This week, our Solopreneur guest is Domonique Janaya. Domonique is a self- taught
fashion designer based in the Charlotte metropolitan area.
She is the founder and CEO of D. Janaya exclusive, her company that offers custom designed formal wear, from prom dresses to bridal gowns. Domonique started her business with a mission to make every woman feel beautiful in their clothing, no matter the occasion.
Domonique struggled with self-acceptance due to being conditioned to believe that being fuller figured was a problem. After discovering that her curves were a gift rather than a curse, she made it her mission to inspire other women to love their bodies and build self-confidence.
Her journey to self-love, and self-acceptance is what inspired her to pursue entrepreneurship. Domonique just recently celebrated her first anniversary of being self-employed. She opens up about how she’s built her business, and what lessons she’s learned about entrepreneurship so far.
